Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Alpine REC REJ 6.5 inch Navigation Radio Breakdown

With the REC/REJ 6.5" navigation radio being over 10 years old, the demand for replacement radio parts for this radio is extremely high. In this article we are going to walk you through how to disassemble the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram REC/REJ 6.5" navigation radio. This article will show you how to remove and replace any part inside the REC/REJ radio.

The REC/REJ has more screws than any radio that we have taken apart, so be sure to keep all the screws safe in one area! We recommend a small cup or bowl.

The tools you will need for this radio disassemble are a Philips head screw driver and a Flathead screwdriver. We recommend using a power drill to make the process faster.

Step 1:

To start off, remove all the screws along the black face plate. In total there will be 12 screws. Then remove the three knobs by simply grabbing firmly and pulling straight off.

Step 2:

Next you will need to take a Flathead screw driver to the edges to pop off the face plate.

Step 3:

Once the face plate is pulled off, remove these 4 screws holding in the LCD display and accompanying power circuit board.

Step 4:

Next remove the power cable.

Step 5:

Remove these 9 screws to remove the front face metal brace.

Step 6:

Remove these 14 screws.

Step 7:

Remove the top plate to expose the six disc cd changer.

Step 8:

Remove these 4 screws.

Step 9:

Remove Six disc CD Mechanism by pulling up on the edges. (If the cd changer does not come out, go back and check Steps 6-8 to ensure you removed all screws circled in red.)

Step 10:

Unlatch these 3 ribbon cables

Step 11:

Remove these 5 screws and remove the RCD video board.

Step 12:
